Article 10. Avoidance of the wife's mother
A man must avoid his wife's mother (yumari / wurrumparra). He must not address her directly and must not remain with her in one enclosed place.
The wife's mother is the woman whose class, under the mother–child cycle, is the mother of the wife's class.
This restatement does not fix the wording of avoidance speech. It records the prohibition of direct address and of enclosed co-presence.Referencing norms: AvoidanceByAddress, AvoidanceByEnclosure, AvoidanceProhibition, AvoidanceViolation, MustAvoidWifesMother, WifesMotherClass, WurrumparraAvoidance
